Here, hold my socks...

Nathan is on holidays, which is particularly great in the Summer because we can do some good outside things with the kids! The other day we went to the local Ballarat Wildlife Park and the kids had a ball feeding the massive (lazy) roos.

I got one to hold my sock while the kids played on the playground. I hardly got the photo taken before he started nibbling my knitpicks needles!

Roos are such a pest in Australia. (But roo meat is very nice!)
.
Finally, today, I cast off the Casbah socks!

Got to love Jeny's Super Stretchy Cast off for toe-up socks. It uses about 5m of yarn (hehe) but you could get both your feet into it.
.

I used my standard toe-up pattern, but with 60st around and 2.5mm needles. The pattern is a rib that is K3 P3 on one row, and K5 P1 on alternate rows. The yarn is the very lovely Handmaiden Casbah! I shalt buy thee again!

P.S. White legs are "in fashion" in Australia, so you know! ;D

S62011

My Casbah socks are going so slowly that they're almost going backwards. My Peppermint Crisp socks are actually going backwards, as the pattern I picked wasn't working out and I ripped back to the toes. The Soctoberpuss socks are tiny, but they're not really getting any time.
So I don't think I'm going to manage a pair a month next year, even if the Yarn Harlot can. Instead, I'm joining the Super Special Six Pattern Sock Club 2011 (!) to make 6 pairs. Here are my yarn choices...

1. Patonyle sock yarn, chocolate-dyed by me.

2. Dream in Color Smooshy. Color: Spring Tickle

3. EGMTK. Color: dark green

4. Wired For Fibre Greta. Color: denim

5. Two Tees. Color: Kaleidoscope

6. Dream in Color Smooshy. Color: In Vino Veritas

Here's a link to the chosen sock patterns, with knitting dates and pictures. We're all doing Shur’tugal, Nutkin, Leyburns, Fox Faces, Nanner and Boyfriend Socks.

You might not have heard of Two Tees, as I think 'Sue from the knitting group" has only just started dyeing it. I got some pretty quick, from her HawthorneCottage site. Luckily she lives "around the corner", so she put it in my letterbox, all balled up for me :)

My eyes are bigger than my stomach at the moment. I have a contagious case of startitis, so stay away! hehe.

Green and gold Christmas

We may not have been winning the cricket lately, but I have been buying some Green and Gold anyway...

9 skeins, adding almost 1kg to the stash! But I have a plan (as part of my Christmas present to myself) to get rid of a less-lovely kilo of yarn to some op-shops, maybe with some spare needles...
.
(BTW, the first two are Dream in Color Classy, colors "Spring Tickle" and "Still Spruce". The second two are Madelinetosh DK, colors "Forestry" and "Winter Wheat". Stole the images straight from Webs.)
